Sophie-Bea is a singer-songwriter, West End vocal coach and musical theatre performer.
From the age of 2 years old, Sophie-Bea started performing classical Ballet, reaching Intermediate level by the age of 18. Sophie-Bea also started ear training classes at the age of 2, and went on to study violin, viola and piano from the age of 6. Having been brought up surrounded by professional musicians, Sophie-Bea had many influences. Her mother being a Director of Music at Rosemead Preparatory School playing the cello and piano, her Grandmother being a concert pianist and her Grandfather playing the saxophone and clarinet, leading to the pair starting their own Big Band. This is where Sophie-Bea’s love for jazz started.
After attending Weald of Kent Grammar School from the age of 11, Sophie-Bea realised her passion for performing and went on to West Kent College to study Musical Theatre for two years. In 2013, Sophie-Bea received an unconditional offer to join the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree course at Southern Theatre Arts in Worthing. With professionally trained teachers, the course focussed on much of the contemporary musical theatre side. The course gave the opportunity to study many different styles of dance, including Ballet, Jazz, Commercial, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Tap. The fantastic vocal coach worked on keeping the voice safe, healthy and warmed up and trained students in many different genres of musical songs, eventually working towards performances of ‘Parade’, ‘Bare: A Pop Opera,’ and many other shows.
After graduating from Southern Theatre Arts in 2016, Sophie-Bea won the finals of Open Mic UK at Dingwalls in Camden, competing against more than 10,000 other singers. From this, she was signed by SAFO Music Group to work with industry professional producers. Sophie-Bea released her debut single ‘What I Like’ in 2017, later followed by ‘Mistakes’. Sophie-Bea’s track ‘Boy’ was released in 2019 alongside her first music video.
